- Sceptre Monitors are a great budget monitor company if you want something that is both dependable and affordable, as I have previously purchased them. I bought these monitors for my setup as secondary and vertical monitors. I used these monitors primarily for watching videos, discord, or simply as an additional screen for work because I knew they would be useful for work other than gaming. Overall, I like these monitors, but there are two major issues I first had with them.
- The monitors are wonderful, and if a few things were changed, they could be rated five stars. The primary benefits of the monitors will be discussed first. First, for $150, you get a monitor with a 75 Hz refresh rate, good size, and decent viewing angles. It is an excellent monitor for office or schoolwork on its own for the price. It does its job very well, and anyone who uses these monitors for basic work or maybe some console gaming will enjoy them. In addition, they are VESA-mountable* (more on that below), have a good display, and are a quiet speaker that does the job well without sounding blaring. It's a good monitor in general, and anyone looking for something simple will like it.
- The following are the disadvantages, of which there were a few at first, based on my experience. Information about the return policy was printed on the box when I first opened it. This was extremely concerning given that sending this monitor back is almost impossible. Please keep everything, including the box and packaging, for the first month you own the monitor. The mounting brackets for the monitor were the second issue I ran into. First of all, the monitor is used with a separate monitor arm that is screwed into a bracket that comes out of the monitor. If you don't plan to use any desk mounts or VESA mounting, this monitor won't be a problem for you. I wanted to mount this monitor on a VESA desk mount because I wanted to use it as a vertical monitor. When I attempted to attach the monitor to the arm by screwing in the screws that came with the arm, I encountered my first issue. The hardware that comes with the monitor is the first issue. We are already behind because the arm requires four screws in addition to the two monitor screws and four standoffs. The back bracket, which protrudes from the monitor to provide additional viewing angles, meant that the monitor wouldn't fit when I mounted it.I found some working old monitor screws. Again, individuals who do not intend to utilize VESA mounting will not encounter this issue; However, it significantly complicates the process for individuals who intend to mount their monitor using a third-party device. I didn't realize the standoffs were for VESA mounting for about 20 minutes. This makes some sense, but it also makes me wonder why the mounting bracket was only included externally when there is a cutout section inside the monitor that fits it.
